SAVE THE DATE...Wednesday, March 9th!

As many of you start to get excited and begin to make plans for your week at the NOW Jade resort. We wanted to be sure that you save the latter afternoon of Wednesday, March 9th for us. We will be having our 20th Anniversary Renewal Ceremony at 5pm on the sands of the NOW Jade Resort so "Meet Us On The Beach".

We would also appreciate any effort if possible that you could come dressed in the colors of white/ivory, black, navy and/or shades of turquoise, sea green and/or tiffany blue (mixed prints are fine) we would love it as these are our colors for the day and it will make for a great photo op' for our group.

Our groom men will no doubt be dressed in shorts. So get comfortable and get ready to celebrate. A private cocktail reception will be following the ceremony with location to be announced.

Thanks for keeping this time open for us. We can't wait to have you there!
Meet us on the beach, soon....

OMG...The Cruise Ships are in Port!

As of my findings on January 30, 2011 I would like to share with you the potential impact of the cruise ships in port at Cozumel during our stay. The number of potential people who could arrive into Cozumel is next to the date. This of course is based on each of the ships are at full capacity.

Remember in a previous posting, I mentioned about riding the waves with a zen like outlook with change? This might be a good time to reflect and learn to go with the flow or buzz right into the energy of the massive. Either way remember, you always have the option to just hang out at our resort and escape it all. Check out the cruise link Cruise TT where I came across this info to determine which day we were going on OUR excursion.

What is the dress code...Resort CASUAL ELEGANCE?

Okay, don't panic folks it's not that stressful. Easier then you can imagine. So I have a couple of websites here that will explain it better then what I can attempt. Check them out and if you need more information then what I have for you ... I'm glad you are joining us because you do need a vacation! This is a higher end resort and so they want the guests to look nice and dress appropriate. You did check out my article on the Now Jade, right? Looks sleek and classy, huh? Well they want us that way too. It's not a Spring Break for college students you know! So leave the T-Shirts & Flip Flops for the day and dress up a bit for dinner.

As for Roger and I? Oh yeah, count on his "I buy Japanese Sword T-Shirt" during the day, but at evening meal time... I will insist that Roger bring at least one pair of Docker style pants to match the days of the restaurants' dress code. I'll have him bring 5 dressy collar shirts and/or polo shirts to match his probably dark pants. Shoes? Oh I think his all black tennis shoes will be fine (which I'm guessing will be his choice) or he can bring his loafers. For me, I will bring one or two long sundress and/or my dressy slacks which I will mix and match and accent with scarves and jewelry. Oh ladies, I meant to say, COSTUME JEWELRY. Leave your favorite or treasured jewels at home. And I would bring a light sweater or windbreaker for the plane ride and air-conditioned resort rooms.

Here are the websites I mentioned that may clarify it all...

Where do we go tonight?

We have a number of options for dining at the NOW Jade Resort. There are 7 restaurants, a cafe and don't forget 24 hour room service. These options are included in the all-inclusive price, however please check your in-room information once you get there for specific details or change in policy such as whether you need to make reservations or not. It is my understanding that although for the most part the resort is casual there are some restaurants that require a dress code. So please note the dress code requirement for each of the dining establishment for your packing needs.

I have highlighted the restaurants from the Now Jade Resort website.

Puerto Morelos & Riviera Maya - The Caribbean Coast

On the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico in the state of Quintana Roo, south of Cancun on the Caribbean Coast, stretching from Punta Tanchacte to the Punta Allen is the area known as the Riviera Maya. The area along this coastline consists of scrublands, jungle, mangroves, ecological reserves, small fishing villages, glitzy resorts, white sand beaches, ancient Mayan port city, as well as the second largest coral reef about 1800 feet off the beaches of our Now Jade Riviera Resort and Spa. The reef and mangroves are a national park and will require a licensed guide for visitation.

We all will be flying in to the Cancun International Airport which is located approximately 12 miles north of our resort in the small fishing village of Puerto Morelos. Driving south to our resort the main highway visibility are dense vegetations, lots of billboards, road side small markets & signs indicating entrances to hotels & attractions. 1/2 to 1 mile from the highway are dense layer of vegetation before you can glimpse to see the Caribbean beaches.

The town of Puerto Morelos is small but quaint with a zocalo which is a small town square surrounded by shops and restaurants. "The pace is slow, the vibe is relaxed and the atmosphere is bohemian" as stated by Fodor's 2010 guide book Cancun, Cozumel & the Yucatan Peninsula. A bit of old Mexico, wouldn't you say? Many of the locals feel blessed that Puerto Morelos is protected by environmental laws and strict building restrictions keeping this small village and its area from over development that their neighboring counterpart Cancun and Playa del Carmen are experiencing firsthand.

Besides our home for the week, NOW Jade resort. Puerto Morelos has a landmark lighthouse and fishing pier which makes for a nice photo opportunity for those inclined to say you were here. Off the town plaza toward the beach is Pelicanos which has a nice view of the Caribbean and some good local eats. Being a small local village, town prices are known to be lower then areas such as the two popular Cancun & Playa del Carmen.

In Puerto Morelos on Sunday, 9:30 - 2pm is Jungle Market, a non-profit organization that assists Mayan women & their families in generating income by featuring dances, regional foods & homemade crafts. More details on the website for Jungle Market & Spa services.

For more local shopping, "Colectivo de Artesanos de Puerto Morelos" daily from 8am to dusk, local artisans selling their art in a series of palapa-style buildings. Which I'm not sure whether it is also known as the "Mayan Handicraft Center" as well. So inquire when you are in town.

Other highlights for Puerto Morelos includes a reptile/animal run farm by biologists called Croc-Cun and Yaax Che Jardin Botanico del Dr. Alfred Barrera Marin. This is the largest botanical garden in Mexico I understand it features a 40 meter suspension bridge, three observation towers, tree/orchid & epiphyte nursery, an authentic Mayan house Archaeological site and a library equipped with reading hammocks...now we're talking. I also heard that there is a bookstore called Alma Libre which has English written books in case you forgot yours. I am sure you can check with the hotel concierge and they can get more information if you are interested.

Reminder: Mexico Style & Ways

Some may like changes and yet others simply hate it. I kinda like it and also like to remind myself that changes are like a swim at the beach. Make it positive and fun by bobbing with the flow of the ocean waves as it comes...relaxing, simply floating over the waves allowing my attitude to enjoy what may come. Why fight it as often there are good things that DO occur with the adventure of change & differences. Traveling is just that and here's a good reminder as you enjoy Mexico...

Allow me to point out that as you travel into Mexico, please start by visualizing yourself of that warm beach wave as you bob over the cultural differences that you may encounter. Things are done different across the border and that includes expectations as well. Let me point out we are NOT in the US of A, folks!

For one major difference, Mexicans take life more RELAXED then many of us. If you might recall the translation of "manana" ~ means "tomorrow" in Spanish! A more realistic and actual meaning is "Relax, it will get done, eventually, yes really!"

We are visitors to another world and there are beauty to every world. So if it's not quite what you think, relax - be open-flexible- patient and SMILE!. You are on Mexico Time & in her land with her ways!
